It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here so I just wanted to share a little bit about what I’ve been up to. I recently picked up the Monoprice Select Mini V2 3D printer and I’ve been trying to get the hang of 3D modeling. So far I’m really impressed with the printer. Once I got the settings figured out, printing has been a breeze, and the print quality is great.
For my first project I wanted to try making some coasters for the den. I have a set of posters by Irvine Peacock hanging up, so I thought it would be nice to design the coasters to coordinate with the posters.
I chose to mimic the 4×4 grid of tiles in the center of the picture, so I picked up some mosaic bath tile from lowes and designed a simple grid to hold the tiles. The grid took about 5 hours to print. After it was printed, I popped the tiles in with a little hot glue to make sure they didn’t go anywhere.
Easy peasy! Hopefully as I get better at 3D modeling I can create some more complicated designs. I’m pretty excited about the possibilities!
